AIX
4.3 was the first to support the new IP Version
6 protocol, providing additional IP addresses,
security and integrity—all important considerations
as the Internet continues to grow at an astounding
rate. And the AIX 5L protocol stacks supporting
I/O have been tuned for optimum performance and
reliability.
AIX 5L also integrates other key Internet technologies,
such as the popular Java™ Development Kit
(JDK) with an associated Just-In-Time (JIT) compiler.
Java was used to create AIX Web-based System Manager,
an application that allows you to manage AIX with
a Java enabled Web browser (Java 1.1 or later).
And because Java technology is architecture independent,
it helps you leverage your investments in Java
application development on multiple platforms.
On your intranet, AIX 5L bridges the gap between
a wide array of operating environments and applications,
permitting you to leverage your existing IT investments
while providing flexibility for the future. This
interoperability is enabled by strong support
for open industry standards, allowing AIX 5L to
communicate with a wide array of systems. AIX
5L supports a variety of servers and PC clients
with a broad range of interoperability products
from IBM and independent software vendors. The
AIX Expansion Pack includes full-function evaluation
copies of these products. It also contains additional
tools, such as the Web servers you'll need to
help turn your business into an e-business. |
