Strategy 7 Slays Oracle with IBM's DB2 and jBASE Solution For Canada's TransX

Carrollton, TX, Newport Beach, CA - June 27th, 2002 — Strategy 7 Corporation, a world wide leader in database management and mobile computing solutions with over 400,000 users, announced today that TransX Canada has chosen Strategy 7 to migrate its legacy transportation applications and data to IBM's DB2 Universal Database Server. Key to the decision was Strategy 7's ability to address both technical and practical business issues and provide a comprehensive plan for the migration of all key components. DB2 will displace Oracle as TransX's enterprise relational database technology.

For the application and data migration, Strategy 7 will utilize technology from jBASE Software, Inc. (www.jbase.com). Using jBASE's jEDI database abstraction technology, the data that resides in the hashed files can become resident in normalized relational tables without affecting the legacy application code. The technology and the techniques have been proven in large-scale legacy migrations throughout the world and have been demonstrated to yield increased data resilience and, in many cases, application performance improvements.

After extensive research, Strategy 7 was selected over a competitive proposal based on Oracle technology. Both technical as well as compelling business reasons were cited as the basis of the decision.

Bill Karras, Director of Information Systems for TransX, said "Strategy 7 was able to bring together hardware, software, database, support and maintenance and professional services into a comprehensive solution that will allow us to reach our business goals using proven, open technology from solid and reputable vendors. Their understanding of the practical business impact of such an undertaking was a key determining factor in our decision".

The move to DB2 will provide a normalized data platform that will be the foundation for an application re-write in Microsoft Visual BASIC. Strategy 7's professional services team was able to leverage their knowledge of the TransX legacy environment to derive the project scope and specification necessary to fix-bid this element of the project.

"Because Strategy 7 is a certified reseller for IBMs DB2, HP Hardware, jBASE and because of our extensive professional service expertise and support network, we are able to offer comprehensive, practical and cost-effective solutions to the market. This is one of the key reasons why we are now the preferred SI for so many large and small companies across the nation" said Joseph Rodriguez, President of Strategy 7.

"As part of this project, we are also supplying TransX with new wireless application technology that will allow their field workers to access both the legacy applications and new applications anywhere, anytime with any device. TransX is staying ahead of the curve with innovative programs that preserve their legacy investments while giving them access to the latest technologies." added Rodriguez.
