UniVerse Empowers Development
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

UniVerse 10

UniVerse® 10.3 - delivers a powerful new development tool, mobile API support, numerous security enhancements, and consumability improvements for Web Services.

Developers
UniVerse 10.3 now includes the UniData and UniVerse Basic Developers Toolkit (BDT), an integrated, graphical development environment. BDT, a set of Eclipse plug-ins, gives programmers the ability to explore UniVerse resources, and edit, compile and debug code in the UniVerse Basic language that supports their server-side business logic. This powerful and fun-to-use tool, speeds programmer productivity and fosters the use of programming best practices.

UniObjects for .NET now comes in size small. That is, IBM UniObjects for .NET Compact Framework (UO.NET for CF) is available on the UniVerse 10.3 client CD, allowing developers to deliver downloadable applications on the Windows CE platform, including smart phones, PDAs and more.

STRATEGY 7 represents flexibility and streamlined performance with UniVerse Relational Database to achieve the true benefits of open relational technology.

Universe is the heart of a complete development solution that offers a full suite of tools and services:

Rocket Software UniVerse® is an extended relational database designed for embedding in vertical applications. This nested relational data model means intuitive data modeling and fewer resulting tables.
Delivers data access, storage and management capabilities across Microsoft Windows NT, Linux and UNIX platforms.
Features a native, high-performance, record-oriented, non-SQL programming paradigm.
Scales from the smallest workgroup to thousands of concurrent users when using symmetric multiprocessor (SMP)-based hardware.
Provides automatic and dynamic tablespace allocation to fit the size of the database -- providing optimum performance and minimizing disk usage for maximum efficiency.
Includes UV/Net -- the transparent database networking facility for accessing UniVerse files on remote systems. UV/Net uses the UniVerse remote procedure call utility (UniRPC) for connections to and from remote systems. The communicating systems use TCP/IP or LAN Manager networking software to connect to each other.

STANDARDS ENSURE INTEROPERABILITY
UniVerse fully supports industry standard interfaces, such as fully integrated ANSI standard, SQL, ODBC and Active X controls OCX database interfaces. It also provides enterprise data source connectivity to relational and non-relational data using any available ODBC driver on UNIX or Windows NT. High Performance and Scalability UniVerse, using SMP based hardware, scales from the smallest workgroup to thousands of concurrent users. UniVerse solutions for both UNIX and Windows NT are economically sized and economically priced compared to other RDBM's.

CREATE LINE OF BUSINESS APPLICATIONS
Developers can take advantage of UniVerse's native, high-performance, record-oriented, non-SQL programming paradigm. When used in conjunction with the UniVerse stored a procedure database environment, it provides a rapid and real-world approach to application development that minimizes development time and maximizes operational performance. The result is an exceptionally developer-friendly system.

UniVerse is versatile enough to adapt to a wide range of solutions. It uses an open client/server architecture that is scalable and cost-effective for both large and small organizations. UniVerse provides the core functionality developers need to quickly build and deploy OLTP applications.
Universe is the ideal database for client/server and web-based application development because of its low administrative maintenance, broad hardware platform support, and industry standard interfaces. It maximizes interoperability through support of both industry and de facto standards, including fully integrated ANSI-standard SL, ODBC, ActiveX and Java database interfaces.
